Love To Shop: Meet Zack, 26

Works in sales at LinkedIn, concert enthusiast

Visited Century 21 Lincoln Square

Unaware of Century 21 prior to interview

“I love shopping with my friends. They’re more stylish and get me to stretch myself and try styles I wouldn't have ever thought of.”

MY STYLE

MY STYLE

I wear regular button downs at work, but I dress trendier when I’m going out.

My friends have pushed me to take more fashion risks and encourage me to buy new things. I look forward to getting their opinion on new outfits.

My friends live for their look, so we put together specific looks for each event we go to (e.g., concerts, festivals).

Accessories are my thing -- watches, necklaces, and scarves.

ABOUT SHOPPING

ABOUT SHOPPING

I prefer shopping in-store. I don’t like waiting for shipping and the hassle of online returns.

I don’t really care about brands, as long as I like the style and fit. I typically shop at Urban Outfitters, Frank & Oak, JackThreads, and Zanerobe.

I get annoyed when stores are cluttered or have pushy salespeople.

I like that Urban Outfitters has a floor dedicated to men and spacious fitting rooms. They also grab other sizes for you if you need them.

I prefer to join a loyalty program that gives me points/discounts than get a credit card.

I love going to pop ups. I think it’d be cool if a store threw an event with a fashion show, DJ, alcohol brand partnership, up and coming bands, etc.

SOMEWHERE TO PUT MY STUFF

SOMEWHERE TO PUT MY STUFF

I know it sounds silly, but I have this bookbag on, this coat, and more when I’m out shopping. And then to get to the fitting room, I have a handful of clothes to carry as well. It’s annoying having to go into the dressing room with all this stuff.

ABOUT C21

ABOUT C21

Do you mean the real estate company?

It reminds me of a generic big box department store, like Macy’s.

This store seems like it’s geared toward an older crowd and people who want to buy everything all in one place. I wanted a younger, curated assortment.

DEVIL'S IN THE DETAILS

DEVIL'S IN THE DETAILS

The small things turn me off. If I see things that I don’t like right away, I wouldn’t spend much time looking for the perfect item. Versus if I like the music, see cool-looking mannequins, I would spend more time trying to find the right piece. The fact that I don’t like anything on the outside...ugh, these flip flops.

C21 WISHLIST

C21 WISHLIST

The organization is confusing. Why are there European designers next to winter hats?

I need a slim fit section with items for me.

The credit card rewards are not good enough, and the terms are confusing.

If I don’t like the items in the front or the endcaps, the whole section is off-putting.

The top 40 music doesn’t make me want to stay shopping.

The shoes look geared towards suburban dads and not for someone like me.

I don’t like the outfits on the mannequins. They don’t draw me in.

I should be able to find the outfit on a mannequin easily and close by.

I want a more curated assortment of accessories that fit my aesthetic.
